One Picture’s Worth a thousand words. Give or take. A thousand words is quite a bit, but sometimes it’s never quite enough, and even more so if you start to look outside the edges of the picture. What’s happening just beyond the shutter’s click? What is going on behind the camera, and what is the person holding it thinking? What are the people being photographed looking at with so much interest? What made that weird shadow in the background?
I want to fill in these blanks with writing. One Picture’s Worth of words to accompany the picture. It will hopefully work both ways. You submit to me images of people, places, things, but hopefully something inclined to storytelling, and using that as a foundation I will write a short story about that image (one per week, chosen by yours truly) and post it here. I’m not so conceited as to imagine that my story should be all the justification you need to participate, so all chosen pictures will be credited their photographers, along with a link to your homepage/blog/whatever, to hopefully help return the favor you’re paying me.
So that, in a nutshell, is the site. On Sundays I will upload the picture and story for that week, and throughout the week I might post up tidbits of things here or there that relate somehow to what I’m doing, information, things about whatever, but the main thing is the storytelling, the fusion of picture and word. One Picture’s Worth is not something that can be changed, or judged, by anyone but the beholder, but perhaps I will be able to add something to it in any case.
